Senior Backend Engineer, Member Lifecycle

We are expanding our Platform team within the Member Lifecycle domain and are seeking a skilled Backend Software Engineer. Our mission is to ensure a seamless and engaging experience for Vinted members throughout their journey on our platform.

Composed exclusively of senior engineers, our Technology team operates in a lean, self-managed manner, enabling rapid decision-making and efficient execution. By joining this specialized team, you will be surrounded by expert peers who value collaboration and innovation.

We are looking for someone who excels at writing elegant, efficient code and thrives in a highly technical environment. Your main responsibility will be to prepare our products for future challenges by modularizing and scaling our backend services to meet the demands of our global user base, thereby contributing to Vinted's vision of making second-hand the first choice worldwide.

In this position, you’ll

• Work in a small, efficient, and experienced team to shape the services that affect millions of users.
• Break down large monoliths into smaller, manageable components and services.
• Craft the code that handles approximately 1 billion events daily to send emails, push notifications, and inbox notifications.
• Work on new services mainly with Golang. Some Ruby on Rails is to be expected for maintenance and code extraction. We also use Vespa DB, MySQL, Kafka, Redis, and many other technologies. We do not expect you to be familiar with all of them beforehand.

About you

• You have experience building and supporting large-scale applications (or a high willingness to learn).
• You are familiar with software architecture design and software engineering in general.
• You are a strong communicator, skilled in discussing complex topics and collaborating across cultures in spoken and written English. Golang English is the team's primary language.
• You love building things, moving quickly, and solving difficult problems.
• You are willing to learn and master new technologies and concepts.
• You think pragmatically and choose the best option.
• You don’t like to over-engineer things and prefer to keep things simple.

The salary range for this position is € 4,975 - € 6,725 gross per month.
